Guided Lamb waves in reconfigurable phononic crystal waveguides

چکیده
We demonstrate experimentally the manipulation of Lamb waves guided along reconfigurable phononic circuits created by defects composed threaded rods held with nuts in a perforated solid crystal slab. Adjusting free length rod, resonant frequency defect can be tuned, without any change supporting Both straight and bent waveguides are fabricated measured an aluminum sample lattice constant 20 mm complete bandgap extending from 50 to 70 kHz. Guidance is clearly observed Doppler vibrometer, even after 90° bends. The eigenmodes obtained using finite element analysis explain tuning resonances through bending cantilever model. Numerical experimental results generally found fair agreement. They also suggest that guiding rather independent details waveguides. significance for design devices.

On guided waves in photonic crystal waveguides
The paper addresses the issue of existence of modes guided by linear defects in photonic crystals. Such modes can be created in spectral gaps of the bulk materials and are evanescent in the bulk.
متن کاملOn Guided Electromagnetic Waves in Photonic Crystal Waveguides
This paper addresses the issue of existence and confinement of electromagnetic modes guided by linear defects in photonic crystals. Sufficient conditions are provided for the existence of such waves near a given spectral location. Confinement to the guide is achieved due to a photonic band gap in the bulk dielectric medium.
متن کاملFinite element analysis of surface modes in phononic crystal waveguides
The study of surface modes in phononic crystal waveguides in the hypersonic regime is a burgeoning field with a large number of possible applications. By using the finite element method, the band structure and the corresponding transmission spectrum of surface acoustic waves in phononic crystal waveguides generated by line defects in a silicon pillar-substrate system were calculated and investi...
متن کاملRainbow trapping of ultrasonic guided waves in chirped phononic crystal plates
The rainbow trapping effect has been demonstrated in electromagnetic and acoustic waves. In this study, rainbow trapping of ultrasonic guided waves is achieved in chirped phononic crystal plates that spatially modulate the dispersion, group velocity, and stopband. The rainbow trapping is related to the progressively slowing group velocity, and the extremely low group velocity near the lower bou...
متن کاملGuided elastic waves along a rod defect of a two-dimensional phononic crystal.
It was shown that elastic waves propagating out-of-plane in a two-dimensional phononic crystal can experience full-band-gaps for nonzero values of the wave-vector component parallel to the rods. By further inserting a rod defect, it is demonstrated that modes propagating along the rod defect can be localized within the band-gaps of the phononic crystal. Such waveguide modes are exhibited for a ...
